Galvanized Grooved Standard Rigid Coupling

ARGCO’s Model 101 standard rigid grooved coupling is designed to join carbon steel pipe while providing a rigid joint that helps restrict axial and angular movement. Its angle-pad housing design creates an offset clamping action that resists “snaking” in long straight runs and supports reliable performance in moderate pressure piping systems.

Available in sizes from 1" through 12", this coupling is intended for use with Schedule 10 and Schedule 40 carbon steel pipe and is rated for working pressures up to 300 psi (2517 kPa).

Typical Applications

Ideal for fire protection systems, water supply systems, and other higher-pressure process piping applications where a rigid grooved connection is required. The Model 101 is especially well suited for fire mains, mechanical rooms, valve connections, and long straight piping runs.

Construction Details

Housing segments are manufactured from ductile iron conforming to ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 for strength and durability in grooved piping systems.

Standard gasket is pre-lubricated Grade E EPDM (Type A), suitable for cold and hot water up to 230°F (110°C), as well as oil-free air and a range of water-based services.

Standard bolts and nuts are carbon steel, with zinc electroplated finish per ASTM B633 Type III.

Important Notes

Working pressure and end load values are total values from all internal and external loads, based on standard weight (ANSI) steel pipe, standard roll or cut grooved in accordance with ARGCO specifications.

The allowable pipe separation dimension shown is for system layout purposes only. ARGCO rigid couplings are considered rigid connections and will not accommodate expansion or contraction of the piping system.

When assembling ARGCO couplings onto end caps, additional care should be taken to ensure the end cap is fully seated against the gasket end stop.
