Description
Galvanized Grooved Reducing Coupling
ARGCO’s Model 105 grooved reducing coupling is designed to provide a direct reduction in piping systems, eliminating the need for separate concentric reducers and additional couplings.
Engineered for carbon steel pipe, this rigid coupling joins different pipe sizes while restricting axial and angular movement. It is rated for working pressures up to 300 psi (2517 kPa).
Key Features
- Rigid grooved reducing coupling for direct pipe size transitions
- Eliminates need for separate reducers and additional couplings
- Restricts axial displacement and angular movement
- Specially designed gasket prevents telescoping during vertical installation
- Compatible with Schedule 10 and Schedule 40 carbon steel pipe
- Available in multiple reducing size combinations from 1-1/2" to 8"
- Maximum working pressure up to 300 psi / 2517 kPa
- Ductile iron housing conforming to ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12
- Standard hot dipped galvanized coating with optional orange enamel
- Pre-lubricated Grade E EPDM gasket supplied as standard
- UL, ULC, and FM listed/approved
Typical Applications
Ideal for fire protection systems, water supply systems, and process piping where direct pipe size reduction is required. Suitable for systems operating under higher pressures and where rigid connections are needed to maintain alignment and stability.
Construction Details
Housing segments are manufactured from ductile iron conforming to ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 for strength and durability.
Standard gasket is pre-lubricated Grade E EPDM (Type A), suitable for cold and hot water, oil-free air, and a wide range of water-based services.
Standard bolts and nuts are carbon steel meeting ASTM A449 and ASTM A563 Grade B, with zinc electroplated finish per ASTM B633 Type III.
Important Notes
Model 105 couplings provide a rigid connection and are designed to restrict movement; they do not accommodate expansion or contraction of the piping system.
Working pressure and end load values are based on standard weight (ANSI) steel pipe with roll or cut grooved ends per ARGCO specifications.
The coupling should not be used with an end cap, as the pipe end may be drawn inward during system draining.
Always follow current ARGCO installation instructions and gasket selection guidelines prior to installation.
