Description
Push-On Rigid Grooved Coupling
ARGCO's Model 109 Push-On Rigid Grooved Coupling is a truly rigid grooved pipe coupling designed to prevent axial, angular, and rotational movement under normal service conditions. Its push-on design allows the pipe to move directly into the coupling without loosening components, helping speed installation while maintaining a secure rigid connection.
Built for fire protection, mechanical room, and hot water piping systems, Model 109 features a ductile iron housing, pre-lubricated EPDM Grade E gasket, and zinc-plated hardware. It is UL Listed and FM Approved, with support and hanging requirements corresponding to ANSI B31.1, B31.9, and NFPA 13.
Key Features
- True rigid coupling design prevents axial, angular, and rotational movement under normal service conditions
- Push-on installation allows pipe insertion without loosening components
- Fast, efficient installation with no loose parts to manage during assembly
- Ductile iron housing conforms to ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 for strength and durability
- Pre-lubricated EPDM Grade E gasket supports reliable sealing and easier installation
- 300 PSI working pressure across sizes from 1-1/4" through 8"
- Suitable for hot and cold water service up to 230°F (110°C)
- Meets ASTM F1548 and ANSI/AWWA C606 requirements
- UL Listed and FM Approved for fire protection applications
Typical Applications
Ideal for rigid piping systems where no angular or axial movement is desired, including mechanical rooms, dry-system fire protection pipelines, and hot water systems. For dry pipe and freezer service applications, GapSeal Grade E gaskets are recommended to help prevent trapped liquid from entering gasket cavities and freezing.
Construction Details
Model 109 couplings use ductile iron housing segments that provide significant joint strength while compressing and protecting the gasket from exposure. Standard housings are manufactured from ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 ductile iron.
The standard gasket is a pre-lubricated EPDM Grade E compound with a green stripe identification mark and a temperature range of -29°F to 230°F. ARGCO products use oval neck track bolts and heavy-duty hex nuts with electro zinc plating to support secure, efficient installation.
