H-Series Hydraulic Quick Disconnect Coupling

The 8HBF8 is manufactured to meet the dimensional requirements of ISO 7241 Series B. This standardized quick-disconnect profile allows the coupler to mate with compatible Series B plugs from approved interchange families.

Dixon lists interchange compatibility with several established hydraulic coupling systems. Verify both the 1" body size and ISO-B profile before connection because couplers with a similar appearance may use different interchange standards.

The equipment side of the 8HBF8 uses a 1"-11 female BSPP thread rather than the NPTF connection found on the 8HF8 version. This makes thread identification especially important when replacing an existing H-Series coupler.

Confirm the mating component uses the correct male BSPP thread before installation. BSPP and NPTF connections should not be substituted for one another because their thread forms and sealing methods differ.

Dixon manufactures the 8HBF8 from steel and rates the coupler for a maximum operating pressure of 4,000 PSI with a published burst pressure of 16,000 PSI. Steel components receive RoHS-compliant trivalent chrome plating for added surface protection.

Stainless steel balls, retaining rings, and springs are used in key internal areas to improve corrosion resistance and service life. The connected hydraulic system should always be operated within the rating of its lowest-rated component.

The H-Series uses poppet-style shutoff valves that close when the plug and coupler are disconnected. Standard nitrile seals, a redundant O-ring sealing system, and a PTFE backup ring help maintain the internal sealing arrangement during hydraulic service.

Dixon specifies a temperature range of -40°F to 250°F for the 8HBF8. Hydraulic fluid, hose, adapters, seals, and equipment should also be reviewed because the complete system is limited by the lowest-rated component.
