Galvanized Mechanical Tee - Threaded

ARGCO’s Model 403 Mechanical Tee provides a fast and easy mid-pipe threaded branch outlet, eliminating the need for welding or multiple fittings. Designed for carbon steel pipe, it creates a rigid joint intended to restrict axial or angular movement in grooved piping applications.

This version features a hot dipped galvanized housing coating and is rated for working pressures up to 300 psi (20 bar). It is intended for use with Schedule 10 and Schedule 40 carbon steel pipe, with sizes available across a broad range of branch outlet combinations.

Typical Applications

Ideal for piping systems requiring a threaded branch outlet without welding, including wet and dry (oil-free air) sprinkler services within the rated working pressure. The Model 403 is intended for carbon steel piping systems where a rigid branch connection is required.

Construction Details

Housing sections are manufactured from ductile iron conforming to ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 for durability and strength.

Housing coating for this version is hot dipped galvanized.

Standard gasket is Grade E EPDM (Type A).

Standard bolts are carbon steel oval neck track bolts meeting ASTM A449 and ISO 898-1, while standard hex nuts meet ASTM A563 Grade B.

Nuts and bolts are zinc electroplated per ASTM B633 NZ/FE5, finish Type III. Stainless steel hardware is also available as an option.

Important Notes

This product is intended for use with carbon steel Schedule 10 and Schedule 40 pipe. For alternative materials and wall thicknesses, contact ARGCO.

ARGCO products are listed by Underwriters Laboratories and UL Canada and approved by Factory Mutual for wet and dry (oil-free air) sprinkler services within the rated working pressure.

Nuts must be torqued to 50 ft/lbs (68 N/m). Do not exceed 70 ft/lbs (90 N/m) of torque.

Increased bolt torque will not improve sealing and may cause product failure.
