Construction Details
The Type AA fitting features an aluminum body with a male cam & groove adapter profile on each end.
Each male adapter end inserts into a compatible female camlock coupler. The cam arms located on the mating female couplers close around the adapter ends to secure the connections.
Because both ends are male camlock adapters, the Type AA is commonly referred to as a camlock spool adapter or double-male camlock adapter. It provides a direct way to join two female camlock connections without adding NPT-threaded fittings.
Connection Configuration
Male Camlock – End 1
The first male cam & groove adapter inserts into a compatible female camlock coupler. The cam arms on the female coupler secure the connection.
Male Camlock – End 2
The second male cam & groove adapter connects in the same manner to another compatible female camlock coupler, creating a female-to-female connection through the spool adapter.
How a Type AA Camlock Works
Open the cam arms on the first compatible female camlock coupler and insert one male end of the Type AA adapter fully into the coupler.
Close both cam arms on the female coupler using normal hand pressure. Repeat the process on the opposite end with the second compatible female camlock coupler.
For disconnection, safely depressurize and drain the system as appropriate before opening the cam arms and separating either connection.
