Stainless Press 45° Elbow

Merit Stainless Press 45° Elbows are designed to change the direction of compatible stainless steel piping by 45 degrees using a press connection. The fitting provides a gradual directional transition without requiring threaded assembly or welding at the joint.

Merit Stainless Steel Press Fittings are designed for use with Schedule 5 or Schedule 10 Type 304/304L or 316/316L stainless steel pipe conforming to ASTM A-312. The stated working pressure range is from full vacuum to 300 PSI (20.7 bar) on Schedule 5 and Schedule 10 stainless steel pipe.

45° Elbow Design

A press 45° elbow redirects compatible stainless steel piping through a gradual 45-degree turn while maintaining a mechanical press connection at each end.

The press design allows the fitting to be installed without cutting pipe threads or welding the fitting into place. Properly prepared pipe is inserted into the fitting and the connection is completed using compatible press tooling.

This configuration is useful for offsets, gradual routing changes, and applications where a full 90-degree turn is not required.

Press Connection Benefits

Mechanical Press Installation

  • Uses compatible press tooling
  • No threaded joint required
  • No fitting weld required
  • Supports repeatable mechanical connections
  • Suitable for compatible stainless steel piping systems

45° Direction Change

  • Provides a gradual directional transition
  • Useful for piping offsets
  • Helps route pipe around obstructions
  • Can be used where a 90° turn is too abrupt
  • Combines direction change with press connectivity

45° Elbow vs. 90° Elbow

45° Elbow

  • Provides a shallower directional change
  • Changes piping direction by 45 degrees
  • Useful for offsets and gradual routing changes
  • Can be used in pairs for offset piping
  • This product configuration

90° Elbow

  • Provides a full right-angle turn
  • Changes piping direction by 90 degrees
  • Useful where a sharper turn is required
  • Common in compact piping layouts
  • Different angle from this fitting

Pressure Range

Merit states that its Stainless Steel Press Fittings have a working pressure range from full vacuum to 300 PSI (20.7 bar) when installed on compatible Schedule 5 or Schedule 10 stainless steel pipe.

System suitability should be confirmed based on pipe size, pipe material, temperature, conveyed media, seal compatibility, installation method, and the applicable Merit Stainless Press documentation.
