Multi-Material Piping Applications
MP-90 provides a versatile solvent-cement option for compatible PVC, CPVC, ABS, and Styrene piping. It is designed for PVC and CPVC pressure systems as well as ABS and Styrene low-pressure systems.
Typical applications include irrigation sprinklers, plumbing systems, and conduit installations where the selected pipe and fitting material falls within the product's specified application limits.
Fast-Setting, Medium-Body Formula
The medium-bodied, fast-setting formulation combines manageable application characteristics with efficient assembly of properly prepared plastic pipe and fitting connections.
Its minimum Brookfield viscosity is 500 cP at 73 ± 2°F, while the clear appearance provides a clean finished look around properly assembled solvent-cement joints.
Pressure & Low-Pressure Applications
MP-90 is a high-strength cement for PVC and CPVC pressure piping and can also be used on compatible ABS and Styrene low-pressure systems within the manufacturer's specified size and application limitations.
It is not intended for applications requiring potable-water, DWV, or sewer-waste listed products under applicable plumbing and building codes, so system requirements should be confirmed before selection.
Important Material Transition Limitation
Although MP-90 can be used with several plastic piping materials, it is not a transition cement for joining different materials to each other. It should not be used for PVC-to-CPVC, PVC-to-ABS, or similar dissimilar-material transition joints.
Use MP-90 only with compatible pipe and fittings of the appropriate material, and select a specifically approved transition cement when the installation requires joining two different plastic piping materials.
Installation & Selection Considerations
- Check the cement before use.
- Confirm the piping material before joining.
- Do not use MP-90 as a transition cement.
- Verify the application and required system listings.
- Follow Spears® joining and cure requirements before placing the system in service.
