Industrial-Duty PVC Joining

PVC-05 is a medium-bodied PVC solvent cement designed for compatible all-class and all-schedule piping systems, providing additional body for applications that require a more substantial cement consistency than regular-bodied PVC joining products.

The fast-setting formulation is suitable for properly prepared interference-fit connections through 6" diameter, while compatible Schedule 80 PVC applications are supported through 4" diameter when installed according to Spears® joining requirements.

Compatible PVC Applications

PVC-05 is intended for compatible industrial piping, plumbing, DWV, irrigation, electrical conduit, pool and spa, and PVC foam-core piping systems, making it a versatile solvent cement for a broad range of PVC installation and maintenance requirements.

Always confirm the pipe material, schedule, nominal size, fitting configuration, operating conditions, and applicable Spears® joining requirements before selecting PVC-05 and completing the solvent-cement connection.

Primerless Non-Pressure Use

PVC-05 can be used without a separate primer on qualifying non-pressure PVC systems where local code permits, providing installers with a simplified joining option for compatible applications that meet the manufacturer's requirements.

Pressure piping and installations governed by specific plumbing or project requirements should follow the applicable primer, preparation, cement application, assembly, set-time, and cure-time procedures specified for the complete system.

Clear Cement & Product Handling

The clear formulation helps create a less noticeable finished appearance around properly assembled PVC connections while maintaining the industrial-duty characteristics associated with the PVC-05 product family.

The container should remain tightly sealed between uses because solvent evaporation can cause the cement to become thickened, stringy, or gelled, and thinner should not be added in an attempt to restore cement that has changed from its proper application consistency.

Installation & Selection Considerations

  • Check the cement before use.
  • Keep the container tightly sealed.
  • Keep mating surfaces clean and completely dry.
  • Confirm the pipe size and schedule are within product limits.
  • Follow Spears® joining and cure requirements before placing the system in service.
