Choose the Correct Fit
Check the required hole size and locate the corresponding step. Confirm the workpiece suits step drilling and secure it firmly.
Fit the 1/4-inch hex shank securely in a compatible tool. Use an appropriate speed and lubrication for the material.
Installation & Care
Keep the bit square to the work and watch the marked step as it enters. Stop before the next step cuts if it would oversize the hole.
Clear chips with the tool stopped. Inspect the cutting edges and shank before reuse, and allow a hot bit to cool before handling.

Important Product Questions
Which hole-size selections are included?
#1: 1/8–1/2 inch; #4: 3/16–7/8 inch; #9: 7/8 and 1-1/8 inches.
How thick can the workpiece be?
Check the depth of the required step against the material thickness. A step bit cannot produce a straight hole of one diameter through material thicker than that step permits.
Can it correct an oversized hole?
No. A larger step removes more material. Check the required size before cutting and use a suitable repair method if the hole is already too large.
