Choose the Correct Fit
Match diameter and pitch to the thread before selecting a tap or die. Use the gauge to distinguish threads that look similar.
Use the correct pilot-hole diameter for a tap and start square to the workpiece. The plug taps are intended for through-hole threading.
Installation & Care
Turn the taps by hand with a suitable holder; do not drive them with a power tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid and clear chips as the thread develops.
Clean the cutters before returning them to the tray. Replace chipped tooling, and keep the case closed during transport.

Important Product Questions
Can I power these taps with a drill?
No. These are hand taps. The drill bits used to make pilot holes are a separate operation from turning the tap.
Will the handle work with standard hex dies?
The Hex-LOK handle accepts 1-inch hex dies and the Milwaukee tap collet. Confirm the die’s outside size as well as its thread.
What metals is the set intended for?
The taps and dies are intended for common metal applications including brass, aluminum and mild steel. Use cutting fluid suited to the material.
