Description

Harris 600 All-Purpose Powder Brazing Flux - 1 lb Can

Harris 600 All-Purpose Powder Brazing Flux is a highly active general-purpose brazing flux designed for use with low-fuming bronze and nickel-silver brazing alloys. It is suitable for brazing steel, cast iron, copper and compatible copper-base alloys.

The dry powder can be applied by preheating the end of the brazing rod and dipping it into the flux, allowing the powder to adhere to the heated rod. Harris 600 may also be mixed with approximately 20% water to form a paste for suitable applications.

Application Methods

Dry Application

Preheat the end of the brazing rod and dip the heated rod into Harris 600 powder. The flux adheres to the heated rod and can then be carried to the joint during the brazing operation.

Paste Application

Harris 600 powder may also be mixed with approximately 20% water to form a paste when direct application to the joint or base metal is preferred.

Performance & Cleanup

Wide Active Temperature Range

Harris 600 remains active from approximately 1400°F to 2200°F, making it suitable for the elevated brazing temperatures associated with bronze and nickel-silver filler metals.

Post-Braze Cleanup

Flux residue should be removed after brazing to reduce the potential for corrosion. Harris recommends hot-water washing and appropriate mechanical cleaning when necessary.
