Description
Harris 17 Paste Brazing Flux - 8 oz Jar
Harris 17 Paste Brazing Flux is an all-purpose, highly active water-and-salt paste flux developed for brazing bronze and nickel-silver alloys. It can also be used in appropriate brazing applications involving steel, cast iron and copper-base alloys.
Harris 17 is formulated to provide excellent capillary-flow characteristics during brazing. After brazing, flux residue can be removed with warm or hot water to help leave a clean brazed joint.

Performance & Application
Wide Active Temperature Range
Harris 17 remains active through an approximate temperature range of 1400°F to 2200°F, making it suitable for the elevated brazing temperatures associated with bronze and nickel-silver filler metals.
Capillary Flow
The flux is formulated to promote excellent capillary-flow characteristics, helping molten brazing filler metal flow into properly prepared and heated joints.
Application & Cleanup
Applying the Flux
Apply an appropriate amount of flux to clean joint surfaces according to the brazing procedure. Heat the assembly evenly and introduce the compatible brazing filler metal when the proper brazing temperature is reached.
Removing Flux Residue
After the brazed assembly has cooled sufficiently, Harris indicates that residue can be removed with warm or hot water. If the paste becomes hard during storage, a small amount of water may be added to restore a usable paste consistency.
