The larger male fitting end inserts directly into a compatible female copper sweat socket. The smaller female copper connection fits over the reduced copper tube size. After all joining surfaces are properly prepared, both connections are soldered or brazed using the approved procedure for the piping system.

Each fitting is cleaned and enclosed in protective packaging to help preserve the condition of its internal and external joining surfaces during storage, transportation, and handling. Keep the fitting sealed in its original bag until immediately before installation.

Cleaned and bagged copper components are commonly specified for piping systems where dirt, oil, grease, moisture, metal particles, and other contaminants must be carefully controlled. Confirm that the selected fitting and cleaning level meet the project specifications and applicable code requirements.

• Confirm both required nominal connection sizes before ordering.
• The larger male fitting-end size is listed first.
• The smaller female copper-socket size is listed second.
• Confirm that the receiving female copper fitting socket matches the larger fitting end.
• Keep the fitting sealed until immediately before installation.
• Handle the fitting with clean gloves and approved tools when required.
• Do not use the fitting if the protective package is damaged or the fitting appears contaminated.
• Clean and prepare the male fitting end, female socket, receiving fitting, and copper tube.
• Insert the male fitting end fully into the receiving female copper fitting socket.
• Insert the smaller copper tube fully into the female copper sweat socket.
• Use approved solder, brazing alloy, purge gas, flux, and joining procedures.
• Follow applicable medical-gas requirements when installed in medical-gas systems.
• Support the connected piping to avoid strain on the completed joints.
• Pressure-test and inspect the completed system before placing it into service.
