The male copper fitting end inserts directly into a compatible female copper sweat socket. The opposite female threaded end accepts a compatible male NPT pipe, nipple, valve, regulator, gauge, instrument, or equipment connection. The copper joint is soldered or brazed, while the threaded connection is assembled using a sealing method approved for the piping system.

Each adapter is cleaned and enclosed in protective packaging to help preserve the condition of the copper joining surface and threaded connection during storage, transportation, and handling. Keep the fitting sealed in its original bag until immediately before installation.

Cleaned and bagged copper components are commonly specified for piping systems where dirt, oil, grease, moisture, metal particles, and other contaminants must be controlled. Confirm that the selected fitting, cleaning level, packaging, joining procedure, and thread-sealing method satisfy the project specifications and applicable codes.

• Confirm the required nominal connection size before ordering.
• Verify that the receiving copper connection is a compatible female fitting socket.
• Confirm that the mating threaded component has compatible male NPT threads.
• Keep the fitting sealed until immediately before installation.
• Handle the fitting using clean gloves and approved tools when required.
• Do not use the fitting if the protective package is damaged or the fitting appears contaminated.
• Inspect the male fitting end and female pipe threads before assembly.
• Clean and prepare the fitting end and receiving copper socket using approved procedures.
• Insert the male fitting end fully into the receiving female copper fitting socket.
• Use approved solder, brazing alloy, purge gas, flux, and joining procedures.
• Allow the copper joint to cool before assembling the threaded connection.
• Use only a thread sealant or sealing method approved for the system and piping media.
• Prevent thread sealant from entering the piping system.
• Use proper wrenching techniques and avoid overstressing the copper adapter.
• Follow applicable medical-gas procedures when installed in medical-gas piping.
• Pressure-test and inspect the completed installation before placing it into service.
