Description
Aluminum Weld Reducing Tee - Schedule 40
Aluminum Weld Reducing Tees are designed for welded aluminum piping systems that require a reduced-size branch connection from the main pipe run. Manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum, these fittings are supplied in Schedule 40, with Schedule 80 configurations available by request.
Made in the USA, these reducing tees provide a practical way to transition to a smaller branch size within compatible fabricated aluminum piping systems while retaining the strength, corrosion resistance, and low weight associated with 6061-T6 aluminum.

6061-T6 Aluminum Technical Information
T6 temper 6061 aluminum has an ultimate tensile strength of at least 42,000 psi (300 MPa) and a yield strength of at least 35,000 psi (241 MPa). More typical values are approximately 45,000 psi (310 MPa) ultimate tensile strength and 40,000 psi (275 MPa) yield strength.
In thicknesses of 0.250 inch (6.35 mm) or less, 6061-T6 has elongation of 8% or more. In thicker sections, elongation is approximately 10%. T651 temper has similar mechanical properties.
The typical thermal conductivity value for 6061-T6 aluminum at 80°C is approximately 152 W/m K.
A material data sheet defines the fatigue limit under cyclic loading as approximately 14,000 psi (100 MPa) for 500,000,000 completely reversed cycles using a standard R.R. Moore test machine and specimen.
Aluminum does not exhibit a sharply defined fatigue-limit “knee” on an S-N curve, so the number of cycles considered equivalent to “infinite life” can vary. Actual fatigue performance in a specific application can also be significantly affected by conventional de-rating factors including loading conditions, stress gradients, and surface finish.
Reducing Branch Configuration
The reducing tee configuration provides a branch outlet that is smaller than the main run, allowing a welded aluminum piping system to transition to a reduced branch size without requiring a separate reducer at the branch connection.
This configuration is useful for fabricated piping layouts where the branch line requires a smaller nominal pipe size than the main piping run.

Frequently Asked Questions
What material are these reducing tees made from?
These weld reducing tees are manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum.
What schedule is supplied?
This listing is for Schedule 40 aluminum weld reducing tees.
Is Schedule 80 available?
Yes. Schedule 80 configurations are available by request. Contact the GetPipe.com team for availability and ordering assistance.
What is a reducing tee used for?
A reducing tee creates a branch connection where the branch pipe is smaller than the main pipe run.
What are the tensile properties of 6061-T6 aluminum?
6061-T6 has a minimum ultimate tensile strength of approximately 42,000 psi and a minimum yield strength of approximately 35,000 psi, with typical values around 45,000 psi and 40,000 psi respectively.
What elongation is typical for 6061-T6 aluminum?
In thicknesses of 0.250 inch or less, elongation is 8% or more. In thicker sections, elongation is approximately 10%.
What is the typical thermal conductivity of 6061-T6?
The typical thermal conductivity at 80°C is approximately 152 W/m K.
What fatigue information is provided for 6061-T6?
A material data sheet defines a fatigue limit of approximately 14,000 psi for 500,000,000 completely reversed cycles using a standard R.R. Moore test machine and specimen. Actual fatigue performance depends heavily on application conditions.
Are these aluminum reducing tees made in the USA?
Yes. These fittings are identified as domestic products made in the USA.
What sizes should I confirm before ordering?
Confirm both the main run size and the reduced branch size, as well as the required pipe schedule, before ordering.
