The non-rising stem design allows the valve gate to open and close without the stem extending significantly above the valve body.

This configuration is useful where installation clearance is limited and is commonly used in fire protection, underground water distribution, and post indicator valve applications.

An operating nut provides the actuation point for opening and closing the valve and allows integration with compatible valve operating equipment.
