A hole near the tip lets you attach wire after drilling and pull it back through the opening. Disconnect the drill before attaching wire.
Can I drill blindly into a wall cavity?

Will the three-flat shank fit an impact-driver holder?
Use a compatible drill chuck. A three-flat shank is not a quick-change hex connection, so do not assume it fits an impact-driver holder.
