Choose the Correct Fit
Match the SDS-Max shank to the hammer and confirm its capacity for a 3-1/8 in core bit. Check the required sleeve or service clearance.
Allow for the 22 in overall length at the drilling position. Plan core removal for work deeper than the 3 in cutting depth.
Installation & Care
Isolate the hammer before assembly. Match the centering accessory to the retaining-ring design, then follow the core’s installation instructions.
Follow the matching centering kit’s release procedure. Let the core body cool, clear debris and inspect the teeth before storage.

Important Product Questions
Does the overall length equal the drilling depth?
No. This bit is 22 in long overall but has a 3 in drilling depth. The inside core must be removed before drilling farther.
Can I keep drilling without clearing the center core?
No. This bit cuts the perimeter kerf. Stop and remove the inside core as directed before attempting deeper drilling.
Which centering bit fits this core?
Check the retaining-ring design. Milwaukee specifies 48-20-5498 for red-ring SDS-Max cores and 48-20-5495 for designs without a red ring; confirm the exact version before ordering.
