Choose the Correct Fit
Measure the workpiece outside dimension and check the jaw capacity. Tool length and nominal pipe size are not interchangeable dimensions.
Select an adjustment that lets the jaws seat evenly without forcing the handles together. Keep your hands clear of the moving joint.
Installation & Care
Use controlled hand pressure and support the fitting. For finished surfaces, clean both contact faces and test the grip in a noncritical area.
Clean and inspect the jaws, adjustment joint and grips after use. Do not add a handle extension to compensate for an unsuitable tool.

Important Product Questions
Does the stated pipe capacity mean nominal pipe size?
Check the actual outside diameter that must fit between the jaws. A pipe’s nominal trade size can differ from its outside diameter.
Will the jaws protect a decorative finish?
The smooth-jaw form is intended for finish plumbing, but clean the contact surfaces and control the force. Grit or a poor fit can still damage a finish.
Can I use these in place of an exact-size wrench?
Use a securely fitting wrench where the fastener or fitting calls for one. Adjustable pliers need firm contact and may mark flats if they slip or are poorly positioned.
