Choose the Correct Fit
Identify whether the retaining ring sits in a bore or on a shaft. Set the conversion dial for that ring type before applying force.
Choose tips that fully engage both ring holes without forcing them. Check that the chosen angle clears the surrounding housing.
Installation & Care
Wear eye protection and control the ring during removal. Move it only enough to clear the groove; excessive travel can distort it.
Clean the groove and inspect the ring and tips before reassembly. Confirm the ring is fully seated around the groove before returning the assembly to service.

Important Product Questions
Does the tip diameter specify the ring size?
No. Tip diameter describes the pins that enter the ring holes. Check the ring manufacturer’s plier and working-range requirements as well as access.
How do I choose between the tip angles?
Choose the angle that allows both tips to engage fully while keeping the handles clear of the housing. A different angle solves access, not an incorrect tip diameter.
How far should I spread or compress the ring?
Move it only enough to pass the shaft or bore shoulder, following the ring manufacturer’s instructions. Replace distorted rings instead of forcing them back into service.
