Blue Monster Silver-Seal is manufactured from approximately 99.6% PTFE with less than 0.4% pigment. Its professional-grade construction provides greater body than many conventional lightweight thread sealing tapes.

The tape is designed to conform closely to the thread profile during installation, helping fill small spaces and spiral leak paths between mating male and female threads.

The distinctive silver color helps the tape blend with chrome, stainless steel, and nickel fixtures. This makes Silver-Seal particularly useful for exposed plumbing connections where traditional white PTFE tape may detract from the finished appearance.

Threaded pipe connections can contain small spiral paths between mating male and female threads. Silver-Seal is wrapped around the male threads before assembly so the PTFE material can conform to these spaces.

As the connection is tightened, the tape helps fill the thread path while simultaneously providing lubrication between the mating surfaces.

Manufacturer literature states that Silver-Seal has been used to seal water and oil fittings at pressures up to 10,000 PSI. Actual performance depends on fitting quality, fitting torque, tape application, and the ratings of the complete piping system.

Blue Monster Silver-Seal has a published temperature range of -450°F to +500°F (-268°C to +260°C).

The allowable operating temperature of an installed piping system depends on all components in the assembly. Pipe, fittings, valves, fixtures, seals, and other components must each be suitable for the intended temperature and service.

• Clean male and female threads before application.
• Inspect the threads for damage or contamination.
• Apply Silver-Seal to the male pipe threads.
• Wrap the tape in the same direction as thread engagement.
• Maintain tension while wrapping so the tape conforms to the thread profile.
• Do not allow excess tape to extend over the open end of the fitting.
• Three wraps seal most properly formed threads according to manufacturer literature.
• Poor-quality, damaged, parallel, or vibration-prone threads may require additional consideration.
• Keep the tape clean during use and storage.
• Do not use Silver-Seal on oxygen lines.
• Follow current manufacturer instructions for the specific application.

Silver-Seal is particularly useful where part of a threaded connection remains visible after installation. Conventional white PTFE tape can create a noticeable contrast against polished or brushed metallic fixtures.

The silver pigmentation helps the tape blend with chrome, stainless steel, and nickel finishes, making small amounts of exposed tape less visually distracting.

For the cleanest appearance, apply the tape neatly and keep it behind the visible leading edge of the finished connection whenever possible.

Always verify that Silver-Seal is compatible with the piping material, process media, pressure, temperature, and operating conditions of the intended application.

Thread sealing tape should be used with properly manufactured and undamaged threaded components. It should not be used to compensate for damaged, cross-threaded, or incorrectly formed connections.

Silver-Seal should not be used on oxygen lines. Oxygen systems require sealing products specifically approved for oxygen service.
