Air King Chicago-Style Universal Coupling

The AM7 uses Dixon's Air King® universal two-lug design to connect quickly with compatible mating fittings. The connection is made by engaging the opposing lugs and rotating the fittings into the locked position rather than threading the coupling halves together.

This design is useful on hose assemblies, manifolds, and jobsite air systems where connections may be made and removed repeatedly. The mating fitting should be checked for compatible lug geometry and overall condition before use.

The opposite side of the AM7 uses a 3/4" male NPT connection for installation into compatible threaded components. This allows the universal Air King® interface to be added directly to valves, manifolds, piping, or equipment outlets.

Inspect the female threads before installation and use suitable sealing practices for the intended air or water system. The fitting should be tightened enough to seal without overstressing the iron body or connected equipment.

Dixon supplies the AM7 with a safety clip and AWR4 rubber washer. The washer provides the sealing interface between connected Air King® fittings, while the safety clip helps prevent the coupling halves from becoming accidentally disconnected.

The clip should be inserted only after the two-lug connection has been fully locked. Dixon notes that the safety pin will not pass through the mating holes until the fittings are properly engaged.

Dixon rates the AM7 to 150 PSI at an ambient temperature of 70°F and specifies Air King® couplings for air and water service. The fitting is intended for compatible pneumatic and water-handling systems using the universal coupling design.

Dixon specifically warns that Air King® couplings must never be used for steam service. For added protection against coupling breakage and related hose hazards, Dixon also recommends using a whip hose where appropriate.
