4" Aluminum Grooved Bolted Clamp

Dixon grooved bolted clamps are designed to join two compatible grooved pipe sections. The clamp ridges engage the grooves formed around the exterior of each pipe to create a secure mechanical connection.

This style of connection is commonly used on dry bulk tankers where pipe sections may need to be adjusted, changed, or replaced without creating a permanent welded joint.

Dixon uses an aluminum body for the 4" grooved bolted clamp family. The clamp is designed so the body takes the bolt force and locks into the grooves rather than relying on high clamping force against the pipe wall.

This construction helps prevent distortion of the connected tubing or pipe diameter. Inspect the clamp body, bolts, nuts, and mating grooves before installation.

The 4" clamp family is available with FKM-B, Nitrile Rubber, Baylast™, or White Nitrile Rubber seals. Dixon also offers DBV-BN400NG as a 4" clamp supplied without a gasket.

Select the seal according to the intended media and application requirements. Verify the exact part number and seal material before ordering rather than assuming all 4" clamps use the same gasket.

Dixon specifies 20 ft. lbs. of torque for the gasketed 4" grooved bolted clamp options. The bolts should be tightened evenly so the clamp halves come together correctly around the connection.

Do not tighten one side completely before the other. Correct gasket placement, bolt alignment, groove engagement, and even tightening should all be confirmed before the connection is placed into service.
