4" 6500A Self-Locking Drop Elbow

The 6500-Series uses a built-in locking system that automatically engages when the operator moves the handle into the closed position. This design helps prevent accidental elbow separation while the connection is in active fuel-transfer service.

Releasing the lock is accomplished through the handle rather than a separate secondary step. Dixon provides generous clearance around the mechanism so dirt, ice, and snow are less likely to interfere with normal locking operation.

The 6500A is supplied specifically with a 4" adapter inlet, distinguishing it from 6500-Series configurations with coupler inlets or no inlet connection. The bolt-on arrangement allows the inlet component to be serviced or changed without relying on threaded attachment to the elbow body.

This modular inlet design also reduces concerns associated with galling on threaded aluminum connections. Confirm the adapter-style inlet is the required configuration for the existing hose and transfer equipment before ordering.

Dixon builds the 6500A around rugged modular cast aluminum construction with solid bronze locking arms. The combination provides the structural support needed for repeated engagement with compatible underground fill adapters.

A heavy-duty arm attachment plate and double-yoke hinge arrangement strengthen critical pivot areas of the elbow. Inspect these moving components periodically for wear, deformation, or restricted movement during routine equipment maintenance.

The 6500A has an overall height of 17-3/4" with 10-7/8" of ground clearance. These dimensions define the standard-height configuration and help determine how the elbow will position between the delivery hose and underground fill connection.

Available clearance should be reviewed before use, especially where pavement height, cabinet geometry, or nearby equipment may restrict movement. Correct positioning helps keep the elbow stable without unnecessary contact with the surrounding surface.
