Stainless Steel RF Blind Flange

Stainless Steel Raised Face Blind Flanges are designed to terminate piping systems, isolate equipment, or provide access points for future expansion and maintenance. With no center bore, blind flanges provide a solid bolted closure for compatible flange systems while maintaining dependable sealing performance.

Available in 150# and 300# pressure classes and manufactured from 304L or 316L forged stainless steel, these raised face blind flanges provide corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and dimensional consistency for industrial, commercial, chemical, marine, food processing, water treatment, and general process piping applications.

Product TypeRaised Face Blind Flange

Blind Flange Design

A blind flange has no center bore and is used to close the end of a flanged pipe, valve, vessel, or equipment connection. When bolted to a compatible mating flange with the appropriate gasket, it creates a removable closure without permanently capping or welding the piping system.

This design is useful where future access, inspection, maintenance, cleaning, or system expansion may be required.

Raised Face Sealing Surface

The raised face provides the gasket sealing surface for compatible bolted flange assemblies. The raised sealing area helps concentrate gasket loading when the flange is properly assembled with a compatible mating flange, gasket, and bolting arrangement.

Always verify flange facing and gasket compatibility before installation.

150# vs. 300# Pressure Class

150# Class

  • Class 150 flange pattern
  • Common choice for general commercial and industrial piping
  • Raised face configuration
  • Available in 304L and 316L stainless steel

300# Class

  • Class 300 flange pattern
  • Designed for applications requiring a higher flange pressure class
  • Raised face configuration
  • Available in 304L and 316L stainless steel

304L vs. 316L Stainless Steel

304L Stainless Steel

  • Strong general-purpose corrosion resistance
  • Commonly used in commercial and industrial piping
  • Suitable for many water, food, and process applications
  • Low-carbon stainless steel grade

316L Stainless Steel

  • Enhanced corrosion resistance for demanding environments
  • Commonly selected for marine and chloride-exposed service
  • Suitable for many chemical and process piping applications
  • Low-carbon stainless steel grade

Forged Stainless Steel Construction

These blind flanges are manufactured from forged stainless steel material conforming to ASME A182. Forged construction provides mechanical strength, durability, and dimensional consistency for demanding piping systems.

Flange dimensions conform to ASME B16.5 for applicable Class 150 and Class 300 flange systems.

Common Applications

System Closure & Isolation

  • Pipe termination

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a blind flange?

A blind flange is a solid flange with no center bore. It is used to close the end of a flanged piping system, valve, vessel, or equipment connection.

What does RF mean?

RF means Raised Face. The gasket sealing area is raised above the surrounding flange face for use with compatible gasketed flange assemblies.

What pressure classes are available?

These stainless steel blind flanges are available in 150# and 300# pressure classes.

What stainless steel grades are available?

These blind flanges are available in 304L and 316L stainless steel.

What is the difference between 304L and 316L?

Both provide corrosion resistance. 316L is generally selected for more demanding environments, including many marine, chloride-exposed, and chemical-processing applications.

What material standard applies to these flanges?

The forged stainless steel material conforms to ASME A182.

What dimensional standard applies?

The forged stainless steel flange dimensions conform to ASME B16.5.

Why use a blind flange instead of permanently capping a line?

A blind flange provides a removable bolted closure, allowing the piping system or equipment connection to be reopened later for maintenance, inspection, cleaning, or expansion.

Does a blind flange have a pipe connection?

No. A blind flange does not have a center bore or direct pipe connection. It bolts to a compatible mating flange to close the opening.

Where can I find flange dimensions?

Use the Stainless Steel ANSI Flange Dimensions PDF in the Product Documents section above to review dimensional information before ordering.

What applications are blind flanges commonly used for?

Common applications include piping-system termination, equipment isolation, maintenance access, vessel connections, chemical processing, water treatment, marine systems, and general industrial piping.
