Description

Aluminum Weld 45° Elbow

Aluminum Weld 45° Elbows are designed for welded aluminum piping systems requiring a 45-degree change in direction. Manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum, these seamless elbows are available in Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 configurations.

Made in the USA, these elbows combine lightweight aluminum construction, corrosion resistance, and a smooth directional transition for compatible industrial piping applications.

6061-T6 Material Properties

T6 temper 6061 has an ultimate tensile strength of at least 42,000 psi (300 MPa) and yield strength of at least 35,000 psi (241 MPa). More typical values are 45,000 psi (310 MPa) ultimate tensile strength and 40,000 psi (275 MPa) yield strength.

In thicknesses of 0.250 inch (6.35 mm) or less, 6061-T6 has elongation of 8% or more. In thicker sections, elongation is approximately 10%.

T651 temper has similar mechanical properties.

Thermal Conductivity

The typical thermal conductivity value for 6061-T6 aluminum at 80°C is approximately 152 W/m K.

Fatigue Performance

A material data sheet defines the fatigue limit under cyclic load as approximately 14,000 psi (100 MPa) for 500,000,000 completely reversed cycles using a standard RR Moore test machine and specimen.

Aluminum does not exhibit a well-defined “knee” on its S-N graph, so there is some debate as to how many cycles equate to “infinite life.”

The actual fatigue limit for a specific application can be significantly affected by conventional de-rating factors including loading conditions, stress gradient, and surface finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material are these elbows made from?

These 45° weld elbows are manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum.

What schedules are available?

The elbows are available in Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 configurations.

Are these elbows seamless?

Yes. These aluminum weld elbows are identified as seamless.

What angle does this elbow provide?

This fitting provides a 45-degree change in piping direction.

What are the typical tensile and yield strengths of 6061-T6?

6061-T6 has an ultimate tensile strength of at least 42,000 psi and a yield strength of at least 35,000 psi. Typical values are approximately 45,000 psi ultimate tensile strength and 40,000 psi yield strength.

What is the elongation of 6061-T6 aluminum?

For thicknesses of 0.250 inch or less, elongation is 8% or more. In thicker sections, elongation is approximately 10%.

What is the thermal conductivity of 6061-T6?

A typical thermal conductivity value for 6061-T6 at 80°C is approximately 152 W/m K.

What is the fatigue limit of 6061-T6?

A material data sheet identifies a fatigue limit of approximately 14,000 psi for 500,000,000 completely reversed cycles using a standard RR Moore test machine and specimen. Actual application values can vary depending on loading, gradient, and surface finish.

Are these elbows designed to be welded?
