4" Two-Piece Cast Iron Lever Clamp

The Dixon L04BU is designed for compatible 4" grooved piping with a specified 4.500" pipe outside diameter. The two-piece housing fits around the prepared grooves and provides the mechanical connection between the mating components.

Confirm the pipe OD and groove configuration on both mating components before installation because proper housing engagement depends on correctly prepared grooved ends. Both connection surfaces should be inspected before assembly.

The clamp uses a ductile iron housing with a rust-inhibiting painted finish for compatible grooved piping applications. The housing sections surround the gasket and engage the grooves on both connected components when the assembly is secured.

Inspect both housing halves before installation for cracks, deformation, corrosion, contamination, or damaged groove-engagement surfaces. Damaged components should be replaced rather than installed into the piping system.

The L04BU includes a nitrile rubber gasket that forms the sealing element between the two compatible grooved pipe ends. The gasket should remain properly positioned around the joint while the two housing sections are assembled around it.

Inspect the gasket for cuts, hardening, swelling, flattening, contamination, or other deterioration before installation. Confirm nitrile compatibility with the intended media and operating conditions before placing the connection into service.

The 4" L04BU uses two 1/2" diameter bolts measuring 2-3/4" long to secure the coupling housing around the gasket and prepared grooved components. Dixon lists a maximum operating pressure of 300 PSI at 70°F for this size.

Verify nominal size, pipe OD, groove condition, gasket material, bolt installation, and mating components before service. Correct component selection and proper assembly help maintain the intended grooved connection throughout operation.
