4" API Bottom Loading Load/Unload Head Valve w/Sight Glass

The 5204P is designed for both terminal bottom loading and fuel unloading through the same valve. Its handled load/unload configuration differs from load-only API valves that require a separate tanker connection for unloading.

Dixon identifies the valve for petroleum tanker applications where the API connection is mounted below the tank compartment. Confirm the piping arrangement and loading system requirements before installation.

The 5204P uses a fixed aluminum handle with Dixon's ergonomically curved operating design. The handle operates through a short 62° stroke to open and close the valve during transfer operations.

Inspect the handle and operating mechanism for free movement before service. Binding, damage, or excessive wear should be corrected before the valve is connected to loading or unloading equipment.

A nylon sight glass provides a visible indication of product flow through the valve during loading and unloading. Dixon specifies Baylast™ seals for the 5204P and lists compatibility with gasoline, diesel, ethanol blends up to E20, and biodiesel up to B100.

Inspect the sight glass and sealing components before each service cycle. Cracking, clouding, leakage, or deteriorated seals should be addressed before product transfer begins.

The aluminum valve body uses an anodized hard-coat aluminum nose ring and stainless steel hardware. Dixon notes that the nose ring can be rotated to provide a fresh connection surface as normal service wear develops.

The API valve is designed so required maintenance can be performed without removing the complete valve from the tanker. Periodically inspect the nose ring, seals, hardware, sight glass, handle, and mating interface for service condition.
