Description
Sch40 316L Stainless Steel Welded Pipe
316L Stainless Steel: This is a low-carbon version of 316 stainless steel, an austenitic alloy known for its exceptional corrosion resistance, particularly in harsh environments. The “L” in 316L stands for low carbon, meaning it contains less than 0.03% carbon, which helps reduce the risk of carbide precipitation during welding and ensures the pipe remains resistant to corrosion, particularly in high-temperature environments.
316L is highly resistant to corrosion caused by chlorides, making it ideal for marine environments, chemical processing, and applications exposed to acidic or salty conditions. It’s often used in industries like pharmaceuticals, food processing, and oil & gas.
Schedule 40: This refers to the wall thickness of the pipe. Schedule 40 pipes are relatively thin-walled compared to other schedules (such as Schedule 80), making them lighter and less expensive. They’re commonly used in low- to medium-pressure systems where strength is still important but not as critical as with heavier wall pipes.
The combination of 316L stainless steel and Schedule 40 wall thickness makes this pipe ideal for applications requiring high corrosion resistance and moderate strength, such as in chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and marine applications.
