SCI® Press Copper System
The SP602R is part of the SCI® Press Copper fitting family, which includes couplings, elbows, tees, adapters, reducers, caps, unions, and flanges for mechanical copper piping systems.
SCI Press Copper Fittings are intended for use with ASTM B88 Types K, L, and M hard copper tubing and applicable soft copper tubing within the SCI Press Copper system.
Standard SCI Press connections provide mechanical joining without conventional soldering or brazing and are compatible with common pressing tools and jaws. When the SP602R male street end is installed into a compatible SCI Press fitting, follow the installation requirements for that mating press connection.
EPDM Sealing System
Applicable SCI Press Copper connections use peroxide-cured Grade “E” EPDM sealing elements. SCI lists an operating temperature range of -20°F to 248°F for the EPDM sealing material.
The EPDM seal is recommended by SCI for water service, diluted acids, alkaline solutions, oil-free air, and many other compatible chemical services.
Fluids containing hydrocarbon-based oils are not compatible with the EPDM seal. SCI Press Copper EPDM connections are not for use in petroleum applications.
