SCI® Press - Copper MPT Male Reducing Adapter provides a transition from compatible copper tubing to a smaller male threaded connection, combining an SCI Press connection on one end with a reducing male threaded connection on the other.

Identified by SCI as Fig. SP607R, this fitting uses a Press x Male Threaded Reducing configuration. It provides a compact transition between an SCI Press Copper piping system and a compatible female threaded component when the required threaded connection is smaller than the copper press connection.

Construction Details

The SCI® Press Copper MPT Male Reducing Adapter is manufactured from copper alloy conforming to UNS C12200. The SP607R combines an SCI Press copper connection with an integral reducing male threaded connection.

The press connection incorporates a Grade “E” peroxide-cured EPDM sealing element with silicone grease. SCI specifies an operating temperature range of -20°F to 248°F for the EPDM sealing material.

The reducing configuration allows compatible copper tubing to transition directly to a smaller male threaded connection within one fitting, providing a useful interface between press-connected copper piping and compatible female threaded components.

Important: SCI states that fluids containing hydrocarbon-based oils are not compatible with the EPDM seal and that SCI Press Copper EPDM fittings are not for use in petroleum applications.

Reducing Male Threaded Connection

SCI Press Copper Fittings are intended for use with ASTM B88 Types K, L, and M hard copper tubing from 1/2" through 4" and soft copper tubing from 1/2" through 1-1/4" within the applicable SCI Press fitting range.

SCI states that its Press Copper fittings are approved for installations above and below ground where permitted by applicable local building codes.

The SCI Press Copper system is intended for use with ASTM B88 Types K, L, and M hard copper tubing in compatible SCI Press system sizes.

EPDM Sealing Element
