Why Aluminum Bronze?
Aluminum bronze combines high strength with excellent resistance to corrosion. Titan identifies ASTM B148 aluminum bronze as a preferred material for lead-free Y strainers and for applications such as seawater and other services where corrosion resistance is important.
The YS52-AB also meets Titan's published lead-free requirements for potable-water use, with lead content of 0.25% or less by weighted average on wetted surfaces.
How a Y Strainer Works
Flow passes through the internal stainless steel straining element, which captures debris before it can reach downstream pumps, meters, spray nozzles, compressors, turbines, valves, and other equipment.
The straining element should be inspected and cleaned routinely. Titan recommends avoiding excessive differential pressure across a loaded screen.
Straining Element Options
For standard liquid service, Titan specifies a 20-mesh straining element for sizes 1/4" through 2" and a 1/16" perforated element for sizes 2-1/2" through 3". Titan also offers stocked alternate mesh and perforation selections. If your service requires a specific filtration opening, contact GetPipe.com before ordering so the required configuration can be confirmed.
