How a Flanged Y Strainer Works
Process flow enters the strainer body and passes through the internal stainless steel straining element. Debris larger than the screen or perforation openings is retained inside the strainer while the cleaned media continues downstream. The angled Y-body provides a collection area for solids and allows access to the straining element through the bolted cover for inspection, cleaning, or replacement.
Monitoring differential pressure between the inlet and outlet can help indicate when the screen is becoming loaded. Titan provides gauge taps on this series to support pressure monitoring. Always isolate and depressurize the piping system before servicing the strainer.
Screen & Perforation Selection
The standard liquid configuration uses a 1/16" perforated straining element on 2" through 4" sizes and a 1/8" perforated straining element on 5" and larger sizes. Titan also offers stocked mesh and alternate perforation selections for applications requiring finer or coarser filtration. Contact GetPipe.com when a non-standard straining element is required.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Titan YS58-CI?
The YS58-CI is an ASTM A126 Grade B cast iron, Class 125, flat-face flanged Y strainer designed to mechanically remove debris from compatible piping systems.
What is the pressure rating?
Sizes 2" through 12" are rated 200 psi WOG non-shock at 150°F. Sizes 14" and larger are rated 150 psi WOG non-shock at 150°F.
What is the standard liquid perforation?
Standard liquid configurations use 1/16" perforation on sizes 2" through 4" and 1/8" perforation on sizes 5" and larger.
Can I order a different mesh or perforation?
Yes. Titan offers multiple stocked mesh and perforation selections. Contact GetPipe.com to confirm the correct straining element for your application.
Why are there gauge taps on the strainer?
Gauge taps allow inlet and outlet pressure to be monitored so differential pressure across the straining element can be evaluated as debris accumulates.
Does Titan manufacture this model larger than 18"?
Yes. Titan publishes the YS58-CI in sizes through 24". This GetPipe listing currently includes sizes through 18" based on the available current GetPipe/Titan net-price data.
Important Ordering Notes
- Select the required nominal pipe size before adding the product to your cart.
- The selected variation determines the Titan part code, price, shipping weight, cost, and size-specific pressure rating.
- Confirm mating flange dimensions, pressure class, gasket, bolt requirements, and system compatibility before installation.
- Standard liquid perforation changes at 5". Confirm filtration requirements before ordering.
- Larger sizes are heavy industrial products and may require freight shipment rather than parcel service.
- Confirm pressure, temperature, media compatibility, installation orientation, and applicable code requirements before use.
- Review Titan's current specification sheet and IOM manual before installation or maintenance.
