Description

150# Galvanized Malleable Iron Right-Left Coupling

150# galvanized malleable iron right-left couplings connect two equal-size threaded pipes or pipe nipples using opposing right-hand and left-hand female NPT threads. This special coupling design allows two fixed piping sections to be drawn together or separated without rotating either connected pipe.

Select the required nominal pipe size from the product options above. The selected variation determines the Charman item number, online selling price, weight, cost, and other size-specific product information.

How a Right-Left Coupling Works

One end of the coupling contains standard right-hand female NPT threads while the opposite end contains left-hand female NPT threads. When used with matching right-hand and left-hand male-threaded pipe ends, rotating the coupling draws both pipes inward at the same time. Turning the coupling in the opposite direction separates the connection without rotating either pipe.

Common Applications

Need Help Selecting a Galvanized Right-Left Coupling?

Our industrial PVF specialists can help confirm the required pipe size, right-hand and left-hand thread orientation, pressure class, service conditions, material compatibility, and product availability.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a right-left coupling used for?

A right-left coupling joins two fixed threaded pipes without requiring either pipe to rotate. Rotating the coupling draws both matching pipe ends together.

Are both ends threaded in the same direction?

No. One end has right-hand female NPT threads and the other has left-hand female NPT threads.

Do I need a left-hand threaded pipe or nipple?

Yes. Proper installation requires one matching right-hand male-threaded component and one matching left-hand male-threaded component.

How is this different from a standard coupling?

A standard coupling has right-hand threads on both ends and generally requires one connected component to rotate. A right-left coupling uses opposing threads so fixed piping sections can be drawn together.

What pressure class is this fitting?

This galvanized malleable iron right-left coupling is manufactured as a 150# or Class 150 threaded fitting.

What sizes are available?

Available product variations range from 1/2" through 2" nominal pipe size. Select the required size from the product options above.

Does the galvanized finish improve corrosion resistance?

Yes. The galvanized finish provides additional corrosion resistance compared with an unfinished black fitting, although suitability still depends on the environment and application.

Should thread sealant be used?

Use an approved pipe-thread sealant on both male-threaded connections, selected for the piping media, pressure, temperature, applicable codes, and manufacturer recommendations.

Important Ordering Notes

  • Select the required nominal pipe size before adding the product to your cart.
  • The selected variation determines the Charman item number, price, weight, and cost.
  • This fitting requires one right-hand male-threaded component and one left-hand male-threaded component.
  • Confirm thread direction, nominal size, and mating-component compatibility before ordering.
  • Do not substitute a standard coupling when opposing right-left threads are required.
  • Use an approved thread sealant suitable for the piping media and operating conditions.
  • Confirm pressure, temperature, media compatibility, corrosion exposure, and application requirements before installation.
  • Installation should be completed by qualified personnel and comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Manufacturer warranty coverage is subject to the terms, limitations, and exclusions in the linked warranty document.
